Changing of the guard

Thanks to this program I am learning how to take care of myself. Taking care of myself is taking me away from Northern Illinois. At the end of this month I will be moving to California, following my heart and what I believe to be the will of my higher power. I am pleased to announce that Claudia D., our Spanish translator has offered to be my successor. From my experience of working with her on the June and July AIMSs, can tell she is a smart, well-organized, and highly competent woman. The AIMS will be in good hands.

It has been an absolute joy to serve in Northern Illinois. I had a sponsor once who told me to “stick with winners.” Getting involved with service is an easy way to stick with winners. As a GR and then as the AIMS editor I have been “stuck with winners” whenever I go to assemblies and conferences. If you are reading this and you want to make friends with the crème de la crème of the recovery community get a service position in Northern Illinois. The fellowship literature action committee needs a chairperson. There are also open coordinator opportunities as well.
