Time in program requirement for service

[dropcap]Q.[/dropcap] Are there “time in the program requirements” written or stated before standing for a position

[dropcap]A.[/dropcap] Let’s begin at the Area level first. The only requirement at the Area level is that one has served as a DR first. All the panel positions, i.e. Chairperson, Delegate, Alternate Delegate, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Group Records Secretary, are elected from all the DRs, past and present.

At the District level, the DR is elected from all the GRs in the district. Though there are no specific rules, you had tohave served as a Group Representative.

At the Group level, anyone willing to serve as GR can be elected by the group.

So, having said that, it appears that the only time there is a “time in the program requirement” is for someone wishing to be an Alateen sponsor. There is a two-year Al-Anon membership requirement to be an Al-Sponsor.
