Northern Illinois Al-Anon/Alateen Area World Service Committee Meetings (AWSC)

Overview

Area World Service Committee (AWSC) Meetings are held three times a year in March, July, and November. All meetings are held at Lutheran General Hospital, 10th Floor in Park Ridge. Meetings begin at 9:30 and end at 3:00pm. A continental breakfast is served. Lunch is available in the hospital caferteria and is on your own.

All interested Al-Anon/Alateen members are invited and encouraged to attend.

An AWSC Meeting is...

... a meeting of district representatives (DRs), alternate DRs, information service liasons, area coordinators and officers of Northern Illinois. They meet to discuss the service side of Al-Anon and prepare the agenda for assemblies. These meetings are a conduit for members who are doing service beyond the group level to support each other with ideas and information.

Who should attend?

District Representatives (DRs), Alternate District Representatives, Information Service Coordinators, Area Coordinators, Officers, and any interested Al-Anon member.

One of the duties of a DR is to attend AWSC meetngs and bring a report of area happenings back to their district. In this way, the DR is the vital link between his/her district and the Area. If the DR cannot attend, the Alternate DR usually attends in his/her place.

AWSC meetings are:

  • Informative
  • An opportunity to see Al-Anon in a different way
  • Fun
  • Helpful
  • Free!
  • An experience that promotes program growth
